OK folks. Here’s the big 2010 earnings update you’ve been waiting on the edge of your seat for. I spent about $114K and turned it into $229K. This is the most money I’ve ever made in 1 year and the first time I’ve had a 6 figure income. I’m pretty pleased with it, but not satisfied at all. I need to do much better in 2011.
Total Spent: $114,397.56
Gross Profit: $229,630.40
Net Profit: $115,232.84
ROI: 100.7%

2010 was my best year ever in a lot of ways. Here are some highlights:
|
1. Had another beautiful baby with my wife.
2. Made more money than ever.
3. Worked when I felt like it.
5. Went camping with great friends on a few occasions.
6. Paid off about $8K in old debts like credit cards and student loans.
7. Paid back my mother $17K that I owed her from all the times she’s helped me out over the years. She figured it was more like $10K but I’m counting everything plus interest. She is recently retired, and I’m enjoying being able to improve her quality of life. My goal is to pay her back $30K
8. Increased my business operating capital from about $8K to about $45K.
9. Got our home fully insulated in the ceilings and walls.
10. $5,300 towards retirement. (We will put another $4,700 to max both Roth IRA’s for 2010)
11. $2,000 extra applied to the principal owed on my mortgage. Plus $1k in supplies to put in a new drain field for the house.12. Had my net worth go from negative to positive.
So other than our trip to Europe which cost about $8,500.00 we’ve been pretty conservative with our money. We’ve paid off a large amount of debt and built a bit of a cushion.
|
NET WORTH
If you add up the debts we paid off, the investments we made, and the increase in business capital, my net worth has increased by $69K. But we’ll owe about $13K in taxes which leaves a $56K increase in our net worth.
|
Incidentally, this also means my net worth has gone from negative to positive this year.
|
Consider that I only had about $8K a year ago today. I turned that $8K into $115K.

In 2011, I’m going to start investing in real estate. We’re looking at a 7 unit apartment building now. I’ll let you know how it goes!!

Killer! Congrats Danger and thanks for sharing. I’m sure you will conquer real estate with the same energy you’ve put towards marketing. Looking forward to more lessons and updates.
Congrats Danger… now don’t blow it all off at vegas
Good job. Love seeing you do well because you seem pretty genuine. One word of caution though…be careful with the real estate investments..they can be huge money suckers….and believe I know first hand….congrats..
Like a boss. Great year. Danger, take my advice and roll your capital back into the marketing game. Stay away from real estate; it hasn’t bottomed out yet anyway despite what the experts say. I’ve been in that game for 10 years as a mortgage broker and builder and the risks far outweigh the return. Talk about your ROI nightmares, real estate requires you to risk all your capital and waste all your time. Once you sign the dotted line, there’s no going back. Don’t do it, man.
This is very good work man! It is encouraging to see somebody tapping into affiliate marketing and make living out of it. You are just scratching surface man! go big man!
Great job! Congrats on all the success! Here is to even more success coming in 2011.
Your the man Danger!
Keep up the great work and all the best to you in 2011
I love the fact that you have a plan and work the plan. So many people just take the money and well piss it away. Continued success in 2011 and hope all those dreams come true for you and Mom. By the way post some more pics of the area. I always love it out there!
well done on hitting $115,232.84 – - does this amount qualify you as super affiliate? Always wondered what kind of figures constitute that status. The more money I make the less real it becomes.
@Henry Thanks! I don’t know. Super affiliate has multiple definitions. It depends on your perspective I suppose.
When I started I thought it was anything over $10K net monthly profit. But even though I’m pretty close to averaging that, I feel like I’m really small time. There is so much more potential in this industry. I should be making $500K per year already. I think it’s because I have 5 kids. I’m fairly conservative in my strategies and don’t take as many risks as I probably should.
Holy income batman! Great job on finding the sweet spot of Internet marketing.
Hi Danger,
Congrats! I’m new to the space and have a quick technical question for you. (About networks and their offers specifically).
What email address can i send my question to?
Hi Tapha,
You can reach out to me at: danger (at) dangerbrown (dot) com. I’m at ASW and might not respond immediately.
Great job Danger! To me, affiliate marketing is a lot about momentum. Once you get the ball rolling, you can continue to grow & expand. You’ve obviously demonstrated success so keep it up.
One thing I heard at ASW a few years ago, that I believe, is that people tend to limit themselves. If you can make $1,000, you can make $10,000. If you can make $10,000, you can make $100,000. If you can make $100,000, you can make $1,000,000. Congrats and can’t wait to see how 2011 goes for you!
Hey Brian!
Good to see you too.
Thanks!
You’re right about that rule of 10. It’s pretty close to the truth for me. Which is why I’m always disappointed by my results. I used to think $100K was pretty good, but by the time I achieved it, I felt like I should have made $500K+. If I made $500K I would have been disappointed that it wasn’t $5M.
Btw – great to see you again at ASW, hope to see you at more events this year!
Congratulations on your success! It was a nice surprise to meet you at Affiliate Summit West 2011. It was funny how we kept running into each other on the first day, really I wasn’t stalking you. It was great talking with you.
Thanks Mike! It was a pleasure getting to know you also.
69K TO YOUR NAME?????????????? TELL ME YOUR SECRET BRO
Thanks for the christmas card Ryan.
Nice blog, very basic design, but content is good! Was wondering if your income comes from only adwords or yahoo? and from the same few campaigns from month to month, or did you add new campaigns each month making you like 10-15-20 campaigns?
tks!
Hi JSM,
Yeah, the blog is pretty low priority. You can tell that I’m not making money from the blog. lol
I really need to get around to putting some 125 x 125 ads on the side.
Right now, like 12 MSN campaigns. But I’ve been dealing with more and more slaps and am looking to change strategies completely.
P.S. Yahoo is controlled by MSN Adcenter now. Other than opting out of their partner network you don’t need to concern yourself much about Yahoo anymore.
Tks Danger for the reply! With other bloggers getting their blog bigger & fancier…maybe it’s actually better for you to leave it simple…unless you wanna be a next Jon Volk or Shoemoney!
But anyways, 12 campaigns is good, just enough to manage lol Does the fusion Msn/yahoo affected your numbers beside the slaps?
JSM,
I had started to have a little trouble with Yahoo prior to the transition. My MSN success has been mixed. Some campaigns, I’m having trouble getting volume with. Haven’t quite figured out what their algorithm wants yet.
I’d be happy to have a more successful blog, but it’s a fairly low priority for me. I’m an affiliate 1st. Blogging is an afterthought but helps keep me motivated. Posting my numbers publicly helps me to feel accountable and motivates me to try to do better.
Congratulations Danger, I hope you make even more this year. Good to hear that you could pay your previous debts, I am sure this year you will have more cash to invest in your business.
This is very inspiring! Thanks for sharing this, really.
I’m knew to this blog and I’m very curious how you made this money. Is it with purely affiliate marketing? If not, how much of this money did you make with affiliate marketing?
I’m also into affiliate marketing and from time to time I need some motivation, that there’s money to be made with affiliate marketing.
Best,
Keith
