Earnings update March 2011, $6.1K net profit

by dangerbrown on April 5, 2011

March was a little better than the month before:

Total Spent:  $8,555.97
Gross Profit: $14,638.15
Net Profit:       $6,082.18

ROI:                        71%

So it’s not the bigtime, but I’m happy to have done better than the month before. On top of that, I basically took the month off.  I did do a little work here and there, but mostly I’ve been on sabbatical. I’ve been working on hobbies like brewing (honey mead, merlot wine, apple cider, dark beer), and fixing up an old RV I bought to take the family camping this summer. I’m really enjoying the intellectual challenges of fixing up the RV. This thing has been sitting for several years and has a lot of complicated systems that need to be brought back online. Maybe I’ll shoot some pics/video of it.

Anyway, I expect the next few months to be okay, but I’m planning on taking a lot of time off this summer to take the family to some camping events.

To your success!

Strange but interesting post.

Good to hear from you on the post. I have a guy I work with that did the same thing with the RV. Keep in mind that Ebay has a lot of parts for sale for RV and look for RV salvage yards. Have you been trying any new product lines as of late and are you planning to go to the blog world summint this year? Hope to hear more on the RV project and events that you go to.

That is a good amount of profit for not putting in a ton of ongoing effort and it is nice to be able to kick back and work on some fun projects. Best of luck with everything!

GOOD STUFF DANGER! The work/life balance is definitely an important thing for us, even when it comes to working from home.

Are you considering more in the outsourcing realm? I just dipped my toes in outsourcing with hiring some content developers.

See you at the top!!!

Good job reviving the income. Without revealing any risky details can you give some insight on what you did to turn things around. Are you still pushing on MSN or have you found other traffic sources?

Hi Matt,
I really didn’t do anything other than maintain existing campaigns. It’s just the normal annual cycle regarding the type of offers I push. If I put any effort at all into it, my income should climb until August then start declining again like it did last year.
I really should diversify into some other verticals.

Yes, still almost all of my traffic is coming from MSN. But I don’t really recommend it. I’ve become a bit of an expert in the very narrow and specific thing that I do. It’s becoming harder and harder with paid search for affiliates. I think that if I were starting today without experience in this vertical (financial) with this traffic source that I would fail.

Hi Tom!
I do expect to be moving into other verticals in the next few months and I do expect to start outsourcing website design to take the quality of my landing pages up a notch.

Danger,

I absolutely think that is a great idea. You can send work out and concentrate on working on new ideas or relaxing even more with your family and make some of that great mead you keep talking about!

Hey Danger – Glad to hear things picked up in March!

I’m flying out to ad-tech in San Francisco later today. Are you planning on attending the ShareASale Thinktank in Chicago in May, or the affiliate conference in Denver in June?

Are u not investing in FB Ads? All traffic come from MSN PPC ?
