Earnings update December 2010, $8.1K net profit

by dangerbrown on January 6, 2011

How much money do affiliates make?

In December vs November I’ve reduced my spending significantly and improved ROI from 65% to 98%. But due to having some campaigns slapped, I made a little less money overall. We’ll see how the slaps go over the next few months.

OK, so here are the totals for my December 2010 Affiliate marketing efforts.

Total Spent:  $8,205.50
Gross Profit: $16,297.00
Net Profit:       $8,091.50
ROI:                        98.6%

I suffered some slaps on my largest campaigns, so January is starting out slowly making only about $150/day net. Gotta hustle if I want to get back above $10K monthly.

Get ready! My total earnings for 2010 are in. Be watching for a new blog post with some decent numbers.

Not bad ROI. I hope you will recover from the slap very soon. Good luck man :)

@Affiliate Paying, Thanks. Actually, I got a couple new campaigns making money yesterday and things are looking up already. I’ve been dealing with slaps like this for the last few months. Hope it doesn’t get much worse.

Well with most biz thats not retail December and January are the slow months as every one is getting ready for the holiday. I hope the rest of the year is better than last and that you find more time to enjoy with the family and that everyone stays healthy. FORTUNE FAVORS THE BOLD.

@Paul, Yes, I don’t really talk about it that much, but I mostly do financial lead gen type stuff, and the search volume drops noticeably in the winter. That’s a big part of why my income has dropped in the last few months. I’ll make 2 to 3 times as much in the summer as a rule.

Did MSN slap you or was it Google?

dangerbrown January 7, 2011 at 11:33 am

@Max It’s MSN. I’m talking about having a domain banned. They’ll disapprove all the ads in a campaign.

dangerbrown January 7, 2011 at 11:40 am

Dammit, I need to get nested comments on this thing.

Max January 7, 2011 at 1:25 pm

Bummer on the banned domain – haven’t gone through that myself with them.

Microsoft is better than Google at interacting with advertisers, so hopefully you can get the ban reversed (unless you did something blatantly wrong of course).

Sometimes it’s just a matter of getting someone on the phone. Best of luck.

Great ROI!
Keep up the good work and good luck with the MSN slap.

Congrats dude. You had a great 2010. May 2011 be even better. You are the man!

@Danger, that’s awesome, glad to hear that ;)

Jeff Pohl January 10, 2011 at 9:45 am

The bans suck but the mindset HAS to be that its part of the business and you seem to have that mindset. You either fix it or move on. I tell people to act like a shark….keep moving :)
